YAKIMA, Wash. -- New breast cancer screening technology made its way to Yakima. The Ohana Mammography Center recently installed the new digital equipment.

The upgrade cost more than a million dollars for two machines.

They give doctors clearer images than ever and it's faster than a traditional mammogram.

Doctors also don't have to wait for the film to develop.

"It's a lot quicker -- the images come up in about 30 seconds after we take them and it's interactive, so when we have the patient in here she can look at them at the same time," said Nancy Roehr of the Ohana Mammography Center.

The new machines also gives off about a third less radiation.

Ohana is part of Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
